Isaiah 58
1 “Shout it aloud, do not hold back.
Raise your voice like a trumpet.
Declare to my people their rebellion
and to the house of Jacob their sins.
2 For day after day they seek me out;
they seem eager to know my ways,
as if they were a nation that does what is right
and has not forsaken the commands of its God.
They ask me for just decisions
and seem eager for God to come near them.
3 ‘Why have we fasted,’ they say,
‘and you have not seen it?
Why have we humbled ourselves,
and you have not noticed?’
“Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please
and exploit all your workers.
4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife,
and in striking each other with wicked fists.
You cannot fast as you do today
and expect your voice to be heard on high.
5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen,
only a day for a man to humble himself?
Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed
and for lying on sackcloth and ashes?
Is that what you call a fast,
a day acceptable to the LORD?
6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousnessa will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.
11 The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations;
you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.
13 “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the LORD’s holy day honorable,
and if you honor it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
14 then you will find your joy in the LORD,
and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land
and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”
The mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Q. "Jerry, how would you describe what you do in each of these three areas to combat poverty?"
A: Jerry: "For all 3- general answer: prayer, fasting, and intercession has become a lifestyle for our family. We cry out daily on behalf of the needy - locally, regionally, appalachia, and internationally."

Whether we pass out individual bottles of water or ship entire truck loads to tornado victims in Alabama- we have one common thread. To see individuals and entire communities come to a saving knowledge and personal relationship with JESUS CHRIST. King of Kings . Lord of LORDS.
Internationally- When GOD has sent me a surplus i have had opportunities to ship overseas. We have had 4 international shipments YTD, mostly to 3rd world country orphanages. Our most recent shipment was over $10,000 worth of Frontgate deck cushions which were used for beds for small children who had been sleeping on dirt floors. GOD is truly meeting needs globally through Project 5 2 and our partnering ministries/ churches.
I recently got back from Edmonton, CN. It was a leadership conference there, combined with teaching 5 churches the power of street evangelism in Chinatown/ downtown Edmonton. We ministered to homeless people, women with HIV, drug addicts, alcoholics, across ethnic lines. ( It is a region of many types of European decents, along with native Indians, Eskimos, French, French-Canadians, etc.) Truly an international mission field. We passed out bottled water, cookies, and fresh loaves of bread to the "least of these" - all in JESUS NAME.
Appalachia is near and dear to my heart. We have been servicing that region of Eastern KY for 34 straight months. We take monthly trips down to jackson, KY with groups of business people, pastors, youth leaders, prayer partners, and youth groups. Length of stays vary from 1-2 day trips to as long as 5 days. We feed, counsel, pray with, encourage, have building and construction projects; are intentional about the churches down there sharing product and communication also.
We have over 400 volunteers ( representing 35 different churches ) that have captured the vision to serve in that region in some capacity. Churches have come from primarily the tri-state region- but as far away as Oklahoma, to serve in the Name of JESUS. We average 8-10 skids of food monthly. Some months as much as 15 skids. We have delivered clothes, furniture, and household goods as well. And have sponsored over 200 kids for Christmas over the past 2 years.
God is good . God is faithful.
Our daily and local effort involves the following. We work with 80 churches across denominational lines. We serve 30 food pantries that get the ACTS 2 , ACTS 4 "business model". We share product daily. We diminish all product typically within a 30 day period; most product being turned over within 48- 72 hours, regardless of quantity. And i mean that. I don't care if it is a skid of something or a tractor trailer load- GOD always provides me with the right product for the right pantry or region.
We meet more than just physical needs but also spiritual needs as well. All of my "inner circle of drivers" are truly evangelists, who love the needy, mentally-ill, homeless, orphan, single mom, drug addict, etc. We intentionally go after groups on a weekly basis that most churches neglect or serve only around the holidays.
